  2. Amazing post. We are living the out the brokenness and living in His healing every day since we brought our two adopted children home last year. Thanks so much for writing this.

  3. Oh Everly, this is so beautiful. Thank you for shedding light on these truths. There’s a lesson here for each of us…

  4. Thanks for sharing this. I always appreciate when people honestly acknowledge that adoption is plan B and all the hurt and pain that goes along with it, even if it is beautiful and life-giving and honorable,

  5. We weren’t God’s first choice either, but aren’t we glad that we were adopted into God’s family? I always think how comforting that thought must be to children who are adopted, and to the families who adopt them. I also think that it would be very comforting to them to be told, “When we give birth to children, we have to take what we get, but we CHOSE you.”….just like God chose us before the foundation of the world!

    1. My sister is adopted and that is something she really does love being told. My parents have often said: “We all came into this family differently – mummy and daddy married, your sisters came through mummy’s tummy but we CHOSE you just like God has chosen us.” The whole idea of God adopting us is just so real to this family.

  6. Such an honest, sweet story, Everly. Thank you so much for sharing your heart and the truth we seldom (if ever) hear.
