things i love about my husband {10} chosen
He picked me.
Proposed in the living room of his house on the farm. The one with the ceiling made of an old dance floor. There wasn’t a ring (until later) but he haltingly, hesitantly, hopefully asked.
He asked me to be his, to marry him, follow God along side him, to be his companion and friend.
I love that he chose me.
The Challenge:
What is your favorite part about how your husband proposed?
There was no “real” proposal and even until now he’s apologetic about not having a grand proposal and a ring for me while everyone around us had a ring and a proposal. I’ve always reminded him that talking to my parents was one of the bravest and respectable things he’s done. He was turned down the first time he asked my parents. 6 months later, he tried again with me next to him. Not to ask them anymore but to tell them he’s going to marry me (it’s a long story). I respect him for that. As for the ring, I assured him the ring isn’t needed. I didn’t see it necessary. The most important ring he gave me is the one he put on me when we got married.
Love this, Claire! My husband did eventually give me a ring, but it was not a big deal at all. 🙂 The wedding ring, is indeed, the post important!
Kuddos to him for going back to your parents with you. I’m sure that was uncomfortable, but there is much to be said for it.
He asked when I wasn’t expecting it, on the night of the day he asked my dad for permission. 🙂
We were in a lounge in my dorm building. I was wearing pajama pants and a tie-dye t-shirt and a zebra-print Snuggie. I love that it was when I was least expecting it. He knew he had to do it that way if it was going to be a surprise. 🙂
I didn’t have a ring right away, either… got it a week later, which is when we started telling everyone. It was a precious secret for a whole week. 🙂
Ours was kind of a secret too. Not really because everyone *knew* we were going to get married (in my group of friends, anyway) but we didn’t officially announce it until I had the ring. 🙂
I love that you remember what you were wearing!
He got down on both knees and asked pretty pretty please with sugar on top!
He’s so much bigger than me, that made us pretty much face to face. 😀
And your wedding picture is soooo sweet! <3
Awe, thank you. 🙂
I love that he asked with sugar on top! 🙂 🙂
